The exposure of infants in ancient time

Abstract · One of the most famous stories, which is based on a misunderstanding, is the omicide of deformed newborns in Sparta. It is considered as an example of antique eugenics. This habit was described by Plutarch, nonetheless, it did not happen in the same way as it has been imagined until now. Furthermore, the rules of exposure of infants in the Ancient Greek world was the strictest in Sparta, too. In the other cities of Hellas parents could expose their healthy children even, since laws did not forbid it.

Changing attitudes towards alternative burial methods

Abstract · Alternative burial methods are becoming more and more popular according to both funeral service providers and the reports released by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH). My paper investigates changing attitudes towards alternative burial methods among those who are planning their own funeral and those who are planning a funeral for deceased relatives. Contrary to presuppositions, the data has revealed that in addition to emotional components, there are several other factors that influence decision-making, such as economic and financial considerations.
