Spreading hospice mentality among the inhabitants of Ugod

Abstract · Due to the lack of knowledge related to hospice care, not many people are familiar with the meaning of this word, and they hardly know what it deals with, who can rely on it or if they have to pay for it, what kinds of experts can work in it, how to get hospice care and how long patients can get it. That is why as a practitioner I find it important to show how to spread hospice mentality in smaller municipalities.

End-of-life planning - Awareness-raising and practical help

Presentation of the End-of-Life Planning Foundation

The End-of-Life Planning Foundation was established to give people the opportunity to consider end-of-life issues actively in any life stage. We are supporting this by sharing information on our website (http://eletveg.hu/en), and later we will do that through lectures and printed publications. We would like to provide precise and credible information to support preliminary consideration and planning of legal, healthcare, financial, psychological and spiritual questions and decisions that become relevant in the end-of-life stage, therefore we cooperate closely with experts and organisations of the respective areas.

The principal purpose of our foundation is to facilitate the demolition of the social taboo of death and the effectiveness of fundamental human rights and moral rights until the end of life. We fall into the line of hospice and grief support organisations that have been trying to demolish the social taboo of death in Hungary in the past few decades, and we would also like to show the advantages of an open mind through practical help and personal good experience. The end-of-life stage can be more easily processed by somebody who is well informed and well aware of their possibilities, rights and obligations.

The preliminary consideration of certain end-of-life decisions and the settlement of such issues can facilitate our tasks and the duties of our loved ones, appeasing our active years to come. Theoretical and practical knowledge related to death and dying give us skills that can be useful in the end-of-life stage and can also impact our life through handling our fear of death. The values clarified in the learning process help us find the way to live a sensible life, thanks to which we can look forward to a happier, fuller period of life.

Sharing this knowledge with more and more people is important to us, that is why we made basic information available on our website and constantly expand and update it. After the official registration of the foundation, presumably from the autumn of 2014 we will organise lectures where experts will be talking about psychological, cultural, medical, financial and legal questions arising in connection with death.

In order to collect and organise information concerning the end-of-life stage, we are looking forward to the application of experts who are willing to share practical experience and the emerging needs in their field.
