The mission of Kharon · A Review of Thanatology is to disseminate the latest advances in thanatology, the study of the practical and theoretical aspects of death, dying and mourning. Our aim is to publish original, unpublished works of authors from Hungary, as well as Hungarian translations of works by foreign authors already published elsewhere; in the fields of medicine, psychology, philosophy, theology, art, sociology, cultural studies, anthropology and bioethics.
Please keep in mind the following when preparing your manuscript to be submitted:
Submitted manuscripts undergo a review process. First, an editor reviews the manuscript for adherence with formal requirements, and then two independent and anonymous reviewers review the manuscript with regard to scientific quality and publishability. The review process is typically 2 to 3 months long. Reviewers are selected by the editors so as to preclude any conflict of interest and potential bias. Reviewers are obliged to indicate if the authors fail to refer to relevant pieces of literature. Manuscripts are treated confidentially both by reviewers and editors.
The review process and the publication of papers if free of charge for authors.
The publishers and editors of Kharon do everything within their power to avoid the publishing of manuscripts during the preparation of which research ethics have been breached. Manuscripts should adhere to the spirit of the Helsinki Declaration and authors should declare any relevant research ethics permit numbers. If the publishers or editors of Kharon become aware of any signs of a potential breach of research ethics, they will immediately launch the necessary proceedings to investigate.
Kharon’s regards the following as grounds for the rectification or retraction of published manuscripts:
The required corrections, rectifications, retractions and apologies will always be published by Kharon.
By submitting their manuscript, the authors declare their readiness to participate in the anonymous review process and declare that each author has substantially contributed to the preparation of the manuscripts. Also, the authors declare their willingness to rectify any errors found in a published manuscript and also their willingness to retract the paper in case of serious errors or breaches.
The authors declare that the list of references contains all the works they relied upon while preparing their manuscripts. The authors also declare that all sources of financial support (e.g. institutions and grants) have been declared in the manuscripts.
The authors declare that the results published in the manuscript have not been published before, neither are they at present under review at another journal.

The copyright of the manuscript remains with the authors until the publishing of the manuscript. By virtue of publishing, the copyright is automatically transferred to the editorial board, unless the authors declared otherwise when submitting the manuscript.
